Northward sun-bleached carriage trundles
wheels on faded blacktop rumble
Hem of gray sky drenched in pink
tired necks roll out stiff kinks
Violet earth-mounds roll out of sight
as gilded sky fades to dusky night
I, the bone-white coach doth bring
to distant, glacial burg of Kings.
Cold spring breathes across the lake
shiver in my innards
Pink plum snow floats all around
dancing on my fingers
Gnarled branches reach above
rough beneath my soles
Angry voices reach me there
harsh like calls of crows.
Chill wind beneath the sheets
clatter-clack, clatter-clack
Rain in the trees outside
snicker-snack, snicker-snack
Groans in the wooden floor
BOOM BOOM BOOM
Fearful dreams roar in an
empty room.

May ever I rest so peaceably?
I watch others, deep in the bog
Though ghostlights wand'ring past and play
ever-winking, bury me not
Only one mem'ry stirs my mind
just but one voice says my name
A beautiful face
In a frightening place
tricked me down to light in the sod
no more will I see of my flesh-friends
But no more does the lonely boy cry
for a soul-mate to stay
to keep watch as he lay
Underneath, only bones, life-light gone.
And so now I wait for
another
to lift my sad burden
from me
And bury my bones
So that I may move
on
Let them linger
but let me be free.
